Heart Part is hoping to reduce slow the growth of the estimated 40 million + plastic utensils that currently occupy landfills everywhere. I’m not a huge fan of the heart shape, though it does seem appropriate considering Valentines Day is just around the corner. That said, it’s actually a pretty clever design: part fork, part scoop, part whatever else you can make it do.
The other notable feature of the utensil is the fact that it donates a portion of it’s proceeds to the “Have a Heart” program. If you feel taken with the Heart Part you should check out their web site. You can pick one up for $8.95, but you might get your money’s worth just looking at their Tumblr-like blog.
I agree that the design is kind of silly looking but neat cause! It is cool to see so many startups with intrinsic motivation rather that monetary.
