Tell me if you experienced something similiar to this:
You’re at a restaurant with family, some friends, your significant other, or any other group of people you might associate with, when you look up and realize that everyone is socializing. Only, they aren’t socializing with one another, instead they’re socializing with other contacts via their smartphone. Texting, Facebooking, Twittering, Instagraming, and all that other wonderful stuff that keeps us connected some how pulls the table apart.
That’s one instance of how mobile technology may be having a negative impact on our personal lives, but for small business its helping them compete with much larger competitors. Check out this infographic on Small Business IT trends to see what I’m talking about.
For a culture that is getting increasingly familiar with staying connected to the people most important to them 24/7 it’s no surprise that SMBs are staying connected via mobile as well. The boost in customer service, mobile collaboration, and productivity associated with a “mobile business” is too compelling for today’s SMB to be missing out on.
As a customer, if I have the option of choosing a small or local business over a corporation without sacrificing service or quality, I’ll choose the underdog every time. Trends in tech like this tell me I may be choosing SMB more frequently now.
